Handling:
Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan (Clint Eastwood) var i Dallas da skuddene falt mot president Kennedy 22. november 1963. Han plages fortsatt med minnene, og det faktum at han ikke kunne redde Kennedy. Tredve år senere er Horrigan fortsatt aktiv i tjeneste med å beskytte den nåværende presidenten. En mann som kaller seg "Booth" varsler at han vil drepe presidenten. Booth er Mitch Leary (John Malkovich) og er også vel så opptatt av Frank Horrigan, som å drepe presidenten.

Filmfakta:
Flere av presidentkampanjescenene ble filmet på faktiske kampanjesteder i forbindelse med Bill Clintons valgkamp i 1992.

Clint Eastwood var 63 år da han spilte i filmen.

Før Clint Eastwood ble involvert i filmprosjektet, var Robert Redford aktuell i hovedrollen som Horrigan, deretter ble rollen tilbudt Sean Connery, som sa nei til rollen.

Dette er så langt den siste filmen Clint Eastwood har vært med i uten selv å ha regissert filmen. Regien var ved tyske Wolfgang Peterson (Das Boot m.fl.)

Virkelighetens Secret Service var konsulenter for filmen.

Mitch Leary: Do you want to save me, Frank? Frank Horrigan: No, but it's my job.

Mitch Leary: I have a rendezvous with death, and so does the President, and so do you if you get too close. Frank Horrigan: You have a rendezvous with my ass, motherfucker!

Sam Campagna: Frank, The President sent his limo for you. Lilly Raines: Well, that's the least he could do. Frank Horrigan: Good, I love public transportation.
